Maggie is ok!

Well it has been a day. These hiatic hernia attacks really do take everything out of me. They last anywhere from 12 hours to 3 days. And when it hits 3 days I call 911. (I don't have a doctor to get it checked), Luckily for me today it only lasted about 12 hours. By the time the morning came around the pain was already subsiding. So I have been lucky.

When I felt better I called the mobile vet. They were able to get out here today. She was NOT happy at all when the two vets arrived. I warned them Maggie could turn into satan. And she did,... the hissing,... the growling,... the biting,... It took a good half hour but they managed to give her a look over. Nothing obvious or immediate. It's actually a good thing I had called though as I hadn't noticed that she had damaged her nail. It looks like she almost pulled it out. So it was red and nasty looking. They gave her a shot for antibiotics so it healed well. Then I asked him to watch her walk and he felt the same as me. She looks creaky and old but not actually in obvious pain. But she might have arthritis just by the way she walks so gingerly now. So he gave her some meds for me to give her. He thinks she may have diabetis but would have to do bloodwork (at $300). So we made the decision to let her recoup from todays traumatizing visit and then in a few weeks he can come back and do the bloodwork. I did tell him though that if she does end up having something chronic that will need a lot of maintenance I will probobly have to put her down instead as I can't afford diabitis meds. We all kind of agreed that was the answer. She is 18 years old and this is all expected. Infact I have to be honest and say this caat has not cost me anything. Just the food and litter. She has been healthy for so long. I have been blessed with her.

But today was $300 and in two weeks blood work will be $300 and that is my whole entire monthly budget for food and everything else. So thank God that I was blessed over the holidays with so many groceries. Now that freed up some cash for todays vet bill. I will worry about the next bill when it comes,... Maggie is such an awesome cat that I just have to do what needs to be done for her so she is happy and comfortable. And she is. So i really don't want to check for diabitis as it could be the end,... but I have to. I have to be responsible and think of her first. The money will come,... it always seems to work out. And Maggie deserves to be well.

But in the end my little girl is ok. And THAT is all that matters,.... money is just money,.... I will find it.
